The Holistic Garden: Let Nothing Green Go To Waste

What does the word "holistic" conjure up when you hear it? This question is worth asking because the chances are that if you asked a hundred people, more than half would say something about therapy. While there's nothing wrong with that - holistic treatments certainly do exist - it only covers part of the meaning.

A functional definition of the term is that it has to do with the “whole of the thing”. So holistic therapy, for example, looks to treat a problem with your health by looking at your body and mind together. But you can take a holistic approach to anything. You may boost your earnings by getting a better education. You can make your relationships better by working on making yourself happy, and so on.

Although the word "holistic" is not in and of itself a "hippie" word, it does keep coming back up in that context. And it has to do with what I want to talk about here, which is your garden. We all spend some time trying to get our gardens right. And I would say that a holistic approach is the best way to do that.

What Is A Holistic Garden?

Sorting out your garden is a process which necessarily creates a lot of by-products. You'll have to remove some things that are in the way, tidy up what is left behind and put new things in. If you take a separate approach, at the end you'll have a lot of by-products. But if you take a holistic approach, you can re-use a lot of what would be left over to clutter up your backyard.

How Does That Work In Practice?

The first part of working on your garden is removing things that are in the way - this can be old ornaments or plants you no longer need. Now, some of the former will need to be disposed of. But for the latter, you are left with organic plant material which can be turned into compost. This can then be used in your garden. Rather than wasting things, you are reusing them.

Image from Flickr

Some ornaments, or garden furniture, will be worth upcycling into something new, too. It all depends on how much effort you want to go to.

The More You Use, The Less You Throw Away

As part of fixing your garden, you'll need to mow the lawn. Once you've checked out the likes of Lawn Mower Lane for the right mower, you can get going on this. A useful thing to remember is that mown grass can be used as mulch - beneficial for the soil around any small trees or large plants.

You may even find uses for the containers that you have bought equipment in. Bags from your topsoil can be utilized as a base for a gravel pit. Tubs which contained paint or varnish can become planters once washed out. If you're looking at a shabby chic approach, this can be bang on brand for you.

The advantage of a holistic approach - to anything you can think of - is that it leaves you without as many loose ends to fix up. When you look at it that way, it becomes a really attractive way to live life.

Happy Holidays!

FYI! This is an overdue post. So bear with my guys.

So how was your Christmas go? As for my end, our Christmas is different than the usual. It was not just a simple celebration of Jesus birth but also the 40 days death anniversary of my Lola. Our plan of having a Christmas Party was not materialized because we feel that it is not yet proper to celebratie Christmas the way we planned it to be. Hopefully, the celebration that I and my cousins are planning will happen next year. Well, it is still a long way so we still have a lot of time to plan and prepare for next year's holiday season.

For 10 years now, we usually invite my Uncles who are living next to our house and there families to celebrate Christmas with us. We had less preparation this time. Perhaps it because it is the first Christmas without Lola.

Nonetheless,I am still thankful for all the blessings that the Lord Almighty bestowed to me and my family.

Is Your Company The Kind Of Place Where People Are Dying To Work?

There are many missions inherent in building a strong business. One which can be particularly challenging is that of finding the right employees to work for you. This is often a matter of having to sift through a great many candidates until you finally arrive at the right one. But what if you are not getting enough applicants in the first place? This can happen even to the most well-established businesses, and it is always something of a blow. If you are finding that you are not getting high numbers of applicants anymore, it might be a case of not offering enough to your employees. In this article, we are going to attempt to rectify that by turning your business into one which people are happy to want to work for. Let’s see how you might do that.

Good Branding

The first thing that potential employees will come across in relation to your business is the branding. We often think of branding as something we do for the benefit of customers; but it is also for the benefit of potential employees too. With a good brand image, people are much more likely to want to work for your business. Most people feel the need to be proud of the company they work for, and this is significantly easier to do if the public perception of that company is positive. So before you even start hiring new people, take a look at the branding to see if you can’t improve upon it. Chances are, there is something you can do to make it more positive and engaging.

While the pay you offer your employees is by no means everything, it is fair to say that it is a highly important aspect of the whole thing. After all, if nothing else, potential employees need to plan their life, and for that they need to know what they can expect to earn with your company. With that in mind, remember that you need to offer competitive rates of pay for all of your positions. Remember that this is just as much in your own interest as theirs. The more competitive you are in this regard, the more people you will have flocking in, and that will help the development of your business greatly. Of course, to be competitive, you need to know what you are competing against, and for that you need to know what other companies are offering their employees for the same or similar roles. The process of salary benchmarking is therefore likely to prove central to your recruitment process, as it can tell you what other companies are offering in comparison to you.

Wide Range Of Benefits

But it’s not just the pay that people are looking for. There are many aspects that your potential employees will be looking for, and pay is just one of them - albeit perhaps one of the most important ones. Another thing you need to keep a close eye on is what benefits you are offering to your staff. This is another area in which you need to be as competitive as possible, as the benefits you offer are likely to be one of the major things that your employees look for in your business. There are all sorts of benefits that you can offer, and which to go for depends largely on the nature of your business. But most of all, you should make sure that you are offering a wide range of different benefit types. The wider the amount of benefits you are offering, the more impressed people are likely to be with your company on the whole.

Opportunity To Advance

There are very few people out there who are happy being in dead-end jobs. This is likely to be true for your workforce as much as anyone else’s. When people are deliberating between jobs, one thing they are always likely to take into consideration is how well they can advance from the initial role. This is hugely important to a great many people, because they want to feel that they are able to get ahead in their new role. You need to display, therefore, that your company offers an easy opportunity to advance. Without this, you are much less likely to get quite as many applicants showing  a keen interest in your business. The best way to advertise this fact, of course, is for it to be an inherent part of how you do this. Make sure you genuinely offer people in your employ the opportunity to advance; this is the best advertisement of all.

Positive Working Culture

It helps hugely if the working culture within your business is as positive as possible. Generally, there are some essential things that people are always looking for in a workplace when they get a new job. Most of all, you will find that employees want the communication in the workplace to be as open and honest as possible. This ensures that everyone feels respected and listened to, for a start, and it also means that your employees can enjoy their day-to-day work. This alone is hugely important.

people-coffee-tea-meeting.jpg Image Credit Pexels

Good Quality Of Life

Tied up with the notion of a positive working culture is the idea that your employees probably want a decent quality of life. This can be difficult to absolutely ensure, of course, but it is important if you want to draw in greater and greater numbers for your applications. Achieving this is a matter of getting many diverse elements right all at once. You need to make sure that you are giving your employees the opportunity to live the kind of life they want to live, regardless of what role they have. This alone will do wonders for drawing in greater numbers of interested applicants. It also helps to find ways to show a unique kind of character within your business, as this will make people want to work for you much more readily. With that in mind, be sure to advertise the kind of people who tend to work for you already.

Snip, Snip: Set Up As A Mobile Hairdresser And Restyle Your Life

If you’re a hairdresser tired of your regular job working at the salon, or you’re just interested in setting up your own business, mobile hairdressing might be just the business for you. One of the great things about the job is that you’re not fixed to one particular location. Instead, you get to travel around, meeting new people and making a list of amazing clients who will come back time and time again.

Getting to that point, however, can be a challenge. So it’s important you know what you’re doing before you get started. Here’s how to set up as a mobile hairdresser and restyle your life.

Get The Right Equipment

Wikimedia Commons

The big benefit of working in a salon, of course, is that you get all the equipment you need provided for you. But when you work by yourself, you need to provide dyes, tongs, card machines, straighteners, curling irons and towels all by yourself.

Your clients probably won’t have the equipment you need to do your best work, and if they’re paying a significant amount of money, they'll expect you to provide it for them. What’s more, many clients will request unusual colors and dyes and treatments, which means that the range of products you need to have with you at any given time can be quite large.

It’s also a good idea to get professional equipment that allows you to take payments for your services after you’ve provided them, just as you would in a regular salon. You can find more information on the payment options available through resources like the NAB website. The key here is to ensure that your clients always have a way to pay, whether by cash, card or bank transfer.

Find Clients

According to All Top Startups, getting the customers you need to get the ball rolling as a mobile hairdresser is one of the hardest parts of the job. The first place to go is friends and family, utilizing their social media to make links with further clients. This helps with the initial phase of the business, spreading information about what you do by word of mouth. The next step is to get some business cards printed up and start getting your regular customers to pass them around to the people they know. Remember, your customers are ambassadors for your work, so every time they get a compliment about your haircuts, they can hand out a business card to a potential new client.

Further Marketing The third stage is to set up your own website with booking options once you’ve become more established. Getting found on Google for local searches should be a priority, as well as getting your business on Google My Business.

Optimizing your website so that people can easily find it can be a little technical, so usually it’s a good idea to invest some of the money you’ve earned into getting somebody else to do it. Find an SEO company who specializes in mobile hairdressing search engine optimization and use them to boost your visibility on Google. Don’t forget to regularly upload your work to social media sites like Instagram, with your customers’ permission of course, so that you can build an online portfolio and reputation.

Improve Your Home by Updating Your Backyard

If you’re like almost every single homeowner out there, you take serious pride in how your home looks. There’s more to the way your space looks than the furniture in your interior spaces and how clean you keep the place though.

The fact is that your outdoor space plays a major role in how people perceive your home. If you want to upgrade your place, you might be better off spending that money and time outside and instead of inside.

Keep reading to learn more about how you can improve your home by updating your backyard.

Work on Your Deck

Your deck is where you spend a great deal of time with friends and family as a homeowner. You probably also go out there to enjoy the sun or look at the stars every single day. So why doesn’t your deck get as much care as the floors inside your home?

From taking care of loose boards on the deck to updating the stain, your deck is a serious investment that you should care for. Without proper care, you may find that you need to replace your deck much more frequently than you should.

That’s a big expense that could have been avoided with more regular maintenance.

Flower Power

Flowers may not be your cup of tea all the time, but you don’t need a green thumb to be the type of homeowner that has a beautiful garden. That’s because most areas have natural plants that will grow well without much human intervention. Of course, if you do like gardening, you can grow almost anything you like.

Growing vegetables and fruit can also make a lot of sense and be rewarding for many homeowners. In general though, you’ll need to tend to these things regular, so you’ll need to commit to gardening.

Consider Water Features

There are a lot of landscape companies that offer Jacksonville backyard water features .that many homeowners love. You don’t have to struggle with picking them out and putting one in yourself though.

What you need is a full service contractor who can help you pick out the right water feature for your home. From modern to classical water features, these can really bring a whole new level of visual interest to your home and your backyard as a whole.

Finding Your Renovation Expert

For many products and services, doing a quick Internet search can give you the information you need about service providers. When it comes to your home, finding a renovation expert shouldn't be left to who tops your search results. Instead you will want to understand what qualifies as an experienced renovation expert and how you can find the best ones for the job.

Online Services
The first place to look for an renovation expert is through online services that gather experienced, qualified contractors and present them with all their qualifications, expertise and local availability. These services can be helpful if you have never hired a contractor before or you have not been able to get recommendations from someone who has hired a professional before. Some of these services require a subscription, while many do not.

Word of Mouth
The best way to know how a contractor really treats their customers is by getting recommendations from friends and family. They will be able to tell you how the process went for them from beginning to end, including the estimate process and construction time.

The key to finding an expert through word of mouth is to talk to those who have your best interest in mind. They will be able to walk you through the process and give you sound advice to make your final hiring decision.

Research Qualifications The last way to know who to choose for your next renovation expert is to make sure that all of the qualifications they say they have are valid. Because renovation experts have to be insured and licensed for the work they do, you can check with state or local offices to see if their licensing is valid and up to date. This is a crucial step to take before you sign any contracts with a renovation expert so that you are protected should problems arise.

Renovating an area of your home is a great way to get the look and feel you really want while adding value to your property. Choosing the best of the bunch is key to having a great renovation experience. If you are ready to find your renovation expert, you can learn more here.

Third Year Super Typhoon Yolanda Commemoration!

"We Remember... We Share... We Stand Strong Together"

Yesterday mark the third year commemoration of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). There are some religious activities prepared on the said day. Unfortunately I was not able to attend the whole day event. But I am glad I was able to attend the Wreath Laying and blessing of the grave at the Surge of Hope where my older brother was burried together with hundred of casulties of the super typhoon. After I go with the procession to the town plaza though I opt not to attend the Wreath Laying in our public plaza where my niece was burried as I need to run some errands.

Grave blessing

Wreath Laying @ Surge of Hope

Its been three years yet there are times that the experiences on that day are still fresh. Well, there is no way that we can forget what happened to us in that Friday morning when the sea water reached our house and reached the cieling in a matter of seconds.

My older brother and his family

Most of all we miss my older brother and his family who lost thier lives on the 8th of November 2013.

Keeping Safe As A Single Parent

If you're a single Mom is can be especially intimidating to stay in the house by yourself. You may be terrified of intruders or frightened of being burgled while you're asleep. While you can't stop people in the world causing upset and being generally awful, you can make yourself and your child feel a little bit safer. Jot the following tips down and get the ball rolling with most of them. The more you do now, the safer you'll be in the future.

Install timed lights

These are a genius idea and will trick people into think that there is someone home when there isn't. As a single Mom, you may well be out of the house with your little one a lot of the time, leaving your home empty and vulnerable. If your house looks like it is occupied it will almost certainly deter unwanted visitors. You can set the timed lights to go off and on whenever you choose and use energy saving light bulbs so as not to be wasteful.

Buy a furry friend

No only will a dog act as a wonderful companion to you and your little family; it will also potentially guard you against danger. Small dogs make for great guard dogs as they often have loud barks. Bigger dogs can be trained to attack in times of trouble. Do your research and make sure whatever dog you choose is happy to be around small children.

Invest in home security

A good, reliable and discreet home security system will give you peace of mind and can be relied upon. Alarm Reviews the Vivint security system and the results are fantastic. Camera doorbells are a truly something worth considering and Smartphone apps make using new systems super easy. Always pay a little bit extra when it comes to investing in a security system. At the end of the day, if someone does break into your house, you'll end up paying a fortune in damages. Avoid this at all costs and plow your money into a system that will do its job properly.

Don't overshare on social media

With social media such a domineering presence in today's culture, it's often easy to forget that someone you don't know might be watching what you say in it. If you are going out of town and leaving your house empty, do not publish that news on Facebook or Instagram. Keep details of where you are at any one time private and turn off the location services on your phone.

The main thing to remember when you are alone in a house and raising a child is to not take unnecessary risks. Play it safe and keep your doors locked properly when you are at home; even if you live in a safe neighborhood. It's just not worth taking the risk! Keep in contact with close friend and family and if you're feeling concerned at all, just pick up the phone and call them. They'll be pleased to hear that you are safe.

Are You A "Good Enough" Parent? Not If You Don't Spend Time With Your Kids

Psychologists and therapists have been harping on about the idea of “good enough” parenting for many years now. It’s the idea that you don’t have to be a perfect as a parent. But you do need to be there enough for your kids so that they can grow up feeling secure.

The problem for many moms, especially single moms, is that they don’t have much time for their kids. They’re time-starved by having to do things like the housework and keeping on top of the financial responsibilities of the home.

So if you’re a busy mom, what can do you to spend more time with your kids? Let’s find out.

Ask Babysitters To Chip In

It’s often been said that moms have to be resourceful. One of the best ways of being resourceful is to ask your babysitter to help out with some of the housework. Ask them if they’d be willing to pick up toys after the kids have played with them. You could also ask if they’d be willing to do household chores, like the cooking or washing to save you time.

Coordinate Your Errands

Time management classes often emphasize the importance of coordinating your activities. You want to make sure that you get as much done in a single trip out of the house as possible. Don’t just go to the grocery store, pick up the week’s shopping and then head home again. Think about all the other odd jobs that you need to do that week outside of the house. Perhaps you could combine your grocery shop with going to the post office. Or maybe you could meet a client on the way back from taking your kids to clubs. The possibilities here are endless.

Get Your Kids Involved With What You Are Doing

Finding time to spend with you kids can be difficult if you’ve got a hectic work schedule. When you add on top of that the time you spend doing chores, family time can rapidly evaporate.

The best way to get around this is to get your children involved with chores. Kids can help preparing food in the evening and even helping to clear up the house. Mother’s shouldn’t be personal assistants to their children. They should be active partners in the relationship. According to experts, parents should help their kids become independent from an early age.

Change Your Job

With the rise of the gig economy, going to work doesn’t have to mean doing the nine to five anymore. Work is becoming more granular and more flexible. You can get jobs as and when you need the money through all sorts of different service-based jobs on the web. There’s demand right now for writers, transcriptionists, and web developers.

Make Two Night’s Meals In One Go

Don’t make fresh meals every night of the week. Instead plan ahead and double up what you cook so that you’ve got enough food for two nights. You can make big pans of lasagna, or soups, or stews. Anything, really, so long as it’s sufficient to feed hungry mouths two nights in a row.

When Financial Difficulty Strikes!

As of this typing our family is having financial dificulty because our lola is currently admitted in one of the private hospital in the city. In less than a week the bill reached more than a hundred thousand. And honestly, I really don't know how to gathered this amount. Our family is not wealthy. It was wrong following the advise of my mother's brother to bring lola in a private hospital. No doubt it will be cheaper if we opt to bring her to a government own hospital. But what is done is done. No reason to blame anyone.

Lola is not well yet but we decided to bring her home. At her age, we think its a miracle to recover from the illnesses she has now. By the way,  she is 85 years old and will be turning 86 in few months. We cannot afford to pay more.

Trully, it is expensive to be sick in the Philippines.

Save A Fortune With These Great Habits

 Imagine from Pexels

Halloween is a matter of days away, which means that Christmas will be here before we know it, and then it will be 2017. Is it me, or did this past year go by way too fast?! Although we’ve got a while yet, some of you may already be thinking about what your new year’s resolution will be. If there’s one resolution that I hear year after year, it’s to be better with money. As you probably know, this is often easier said than done! If you want to have a better hold on your personal finances, then here’s a few good habits you can get into now.

First of all, try to keep your budget simple. We live in a world that’s obsessed with technology, and I’m sure this isn’t going to change when the new year rolls around! When our day to day lives are so centered around technology, it can be easy to go all-out on all the financial apps and tools you have available to you. While a lot of these tools can be very handy, they’re often a double-edged sword. When you’re dividing your personal finances into countless categories and subcategories, the whole issue can become over-complicated, and you may end up running yourself into all kinds of ruts. Go with a more minimalist approach, and you’ll find it so much easier to stick to your budget.

 Imagine from Flickr

Next, try to set yourself some passive spending barriers to ensure that you’re not going over what you can realistically afford. Here, I’m talking about getting into a few good financial habits which will help you establish various money-saving rules for yourself. One great routine is getting your monthly paycheque, then writing out a thirty-day list of all the things you want, and then going back over it with the “two items out for every item in” rule. If you’re used to going over budget and living with various luxuries, then sticking to this habit can be a little hard to begin with. However, gritting your teeth through it all will save you money, and develop the discipline it takes to say “no” to some of life’s luxuries. The next time you’re finding it hard to wave away something you want, think about something larger and more enjoyable that you could be saving up for.

Next, max out your retirement savings. Again, this is one that’s easier said than done. Perhaps you would have done it already if your personal finances were in a better position. Still, the closer you can come to maxing out your 401(K) and your Roth IRA, the better off you’ll be in the long run. Whether this habit is realistic for your income or not, it’s important to start saving for it as early as you possibly can. Even putting away $30 a month will add up over time. This is even more important to do if your work runs a retirement scheme where they match the contributions you make. Neglect to take advantage of this, and you’ll essentially be turning down free money!

Automating some of your transactions is another great way to make sure you’re being smarter with your money. This isn’t really a habit, true. However, it’s a great way to ensure your personal finances don’t become too chaotic. When you have many of your payments and savings made automatically, you’ll eliminate the risk of shooting yourself in the foot with impulsive spending habits. Furthermore, when you’re all set up with automatic payments and savings contributions, you’ll have a little more time to focus on other areas of your personal finances. When investments, bill payments and so on are already taken care of, the rest will be far easier to organize.

Finally, get into the habit of looking at the big picture, and questioning every little transaction that you make. Before you finalize any purchase, take a moment to think about your long-term goals, and your personal values. If you bypass this, you can easily end up spending too much of your hard-earned money, or simply squandering it on all the wrong things. The more you do this, the more it becomes a knee-jerk reaction triggered by you touching your credit or debit cards. Soon enough, you’ll wean yourself off of impulsive, unnecessary purchases, and naturally invest more in your career and earning potential.

I hope this guide eventually makes money less of a worry in your life. Take on just a few of these habits, and soon enough you’ll notice a considerable, positive difference to your personal finances.

Semestral Break!

The little big one is enjoying the one week break from school. After having hectic schedule because of the five days school foundation and scout camping he is spending his time watching TV and playing on his phone. I am planning to have our mother and son bonding before he goes back to school.

As for me, I thought I can take some rest after being busy because of the school foundation but I was wrong. My lola was brought to the hospital. I may not staying there overnight but I still feel exhausted going back and fourth running errands. In fact I am coughing as of this typing, that is after having an allergy for two days. The boyfriend is right, stress is making me sick.

I shall take things easy to avoid being sick.

Here's How Mompreneurs Can Reach Further When Working From Home

When you’re operating a business venture from home, you might feel limited in what you can do. You probably won’t have the benefit of having a range of business contacts at first. You also won’t have a large office and workforce to help out. You’ll have to find ways to reach out to customers, clients, and peers from home.

Luckily, there are many ways to expand your reach. Technology these days allows for easy communication both on a domestic and international level. You might be surprised at how much you can do with limited resources. Here are some ways mompreneurs can reach further when operating a home business.

USe VoIP Software

One of the most useful communi cation technologies to come out of recent times is VoIP. The term stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. Essentially, it means you can make worldwide phone and video calls with nothing but an internet connection.

It’s helpful in many ways. You can take calls from any location using VoIP. You can also reach out to business partners, services, and mobile employees if you wish to do so. It’s worth looking into VoIP solutions for your work operations. VoIP software can be used from anywhere and reach anywhere. You can make international calls for cheap (and sometimes even free) using your computer and smartphone. It’s a useful way to expand your communications, even when working from a small space.

Take Advantage Of Your Website

Whether you’re offering freelance services or operating a home business, having a website can help. It can be used as a space to advertise what you’re offering and get people interested. You can also drive traffic towards your site which you can convert into customers or clients.

Since it comes in handy in many ways, you’ll want to take full advantage of your professional site. Make sure you get web hosting with plenty of space and bandwidth. Some services make it easy to create a site for yourself, but you might want a professional web design service to help. You should also choose a domain name which is marketable and easy to remember.

You can do many things through your website. You can set up shopping software for people to buy products or services from you. You can also handle customer service online. Implementing a blog is also fantastic for marketing and spreading news.

Market In Many Ways

It can sometimes feel difficult to get your name out there when you’re operating as a mompreneur. But there are many marketing methods which will help expand your reach and get you noticed by potential clientele. Many are easy to do yourself, making them ideal for mompreneurs.

Search engine optimization is a good way to start. It’ll make your website more noticeable on Google and other website searches. Email marketing is another method which can help a lot. You should also use social media for marketing. Many people first become aware of businesses through sites like Twitter and Facebook.

There are plenty of online marketing strategies you can do on a budget. If you want to up your marketing game, you may want to outsource the job to external services.

Christmas Is Coming: Those Times When It Really Is Better To Give Than To Receive

The year seems to have been belting past at a ferocious rate, and once again we are on the verge of Christmas. The most wonderful season is coming again, as we prepare for snow, winter fun and all the wonders it can bring. We have family holidays to look forward to, huddling under the mistletoe, twinkling fairy lights and... the gifts.

Now some of the gifts will be great. There will be gifts that we treasure, enjoy and come to love for years to come. They will be carefully selected just for us, or small novelty items that make us smile. And there's the joy of giving gifts as well; making someone happy, giving them something they want or need. It might not be the reason for Christmas, but gift-giving has become a big part of it.

Except for...

Well, it almost seems wrong to say it. Ungrateful, even - like we are admitting some horrible secret that we should be trying to keep to ourselves. But the truth is that some gifts... they are not good. Take a deep breath and acknowledge it, even though it feels like you're defying social convention. Some gifts don't make us happy. They make us plaster on an uncomfortable smile and thank someone with conviction, all the while wondering: "what do I do with that?

We're going to try and explore the idea of what you can do with gifts that you don't want. It might take awhile to acknowledge something you have received has drifted into the Unwanted Gift territory, but it's got to be dealt with. There is no point trying to convince yourself you will find a way to love it, that it's not so bad - if it's not working for you, then do something about it.

Of course, you don't need to tell the person who gave it to you. You can still be polite, show them a smile and make it clear how grateful you are. And there is still something in the idea that it's the thought that counts. With all of that said, however, the fact remains you are now in possession of something you don't want - so let's try and make it work.

Option One: Upcycle It

You might have heard of upcycling to do with antique furniture. You take something not in the best condition and give it a new lease of life. There's plenty of guides online for how to do this, and it's a particularly good idea if you've got a creative side. "But," you're currently thinking, "I don't have a piece of hidden-treasure style antique furniture. I've got a vase I hate!" Or whatever terrible gift you have been on the receiving end of.

  Image from Flickr

Let's stick with the idea of the vase for the moment. It's ugly; you don't want it in your home. But like many gifts, there is also the problem of the giver dropping by and wondering where it is.

You can just throw it into a cupboard and not use it, but that doesn't solve the problem above. So you need to try and find a way to live with it.

You have a few options here:

Fill it with colored glass pebbles or a candle to give it a second function and make it more attractive.

Fairy lights with their own batteries can go inside and give a beautiful glow that disguises much of the vase itself.

You can paint it or add adornments so it's more to your taste, which you can sell as a plus point to the giver if ever questioned. "I loved being able to put my stamp on it," you say with confidence exuding from every pore. "It's all the more special now as we have both worked on it...

"If you've not got a vase problem but something else, the same things apply. Ask yourself:

What can I add to it to make me like it more?

Can I put something in it or hide it among other things?

Can it be used for a purpose other than what it was intended for?

It is better to try and find some use out of it than struggling to make something that you dislike work. Even if it's clothing, there are ways and means of customizing something so it is at least acceptable. And if you only bring it out when you expect the giver is going to see it, well, no one has to know.

Option Two: Give It Away

It might seem unpleasant, but you may be given a gift that you don't have a use for - but someone else does. Things like kitchen appliances fall into this category. To some people, they are useful and sought after, but they may not be for you. You might not bake much, or it might even be a duplicate of something that you already own.

In that circumstance, it's best to give it away. You can explain its absence perhaps by saying it broke and you didn't want to disappoint the person who gave it to you by telling them that.

You don't just have to give it away, either. You can sell it online or donate it to charity, depending on how you think it will be best serviced. Just make sure you know what you will say to the person who bought it for you if its absence is noticed.

As for gift cards, they are often seen as the ultimate easy gift, but they have their own issues. For example, gift cards from a store that you don't like can be a nightmare. They also put financial pressure on, as usually, you would have to spend extra on top of the card to make it worthwhile. There are ways to sell the gift card on for cash - as a bonus, you can get discounts on gift cards that you do want. Then you can still make use of it.

If you don't feel comfortable making a profit on a gift, then you can always give the money from a sale to a charity. Better yet, make it a charity that the person you received the gift from cares about. You can even tell them that you did it, and let them appreciate the gesture, if you know they are unlikely to take offense.

Option Three: Regift It

Usually, regifting is seen as a bad thing. It's painted as a social sin, a big no no, something you should never do.

In some circumstances, that's the case. For example, it's unwise to consider regifting in any of these cases:

The new recipient is someone that the original giver knows. This can create more problems than a bad gift is worth.

The new recipient knows you received this gift. This can happen if you moan about the gift at Christmas, but forget you did so for their birthday in August. They will remember though when they see the gift you complained about in their stock of presents.

You have been warned against it. Some people when giving gifts ask you to be honest, in which case saying you love it and then regifting is not a good option. Take them at their word and tell them about it.

Where regifting can work is in a scenario such as the following:

Your friend has given you a blender. You already have one, and you like the one you have; you see no need to replace it with the new one.

Your Aunt, who lives over 100 miles away, has never met your friend. You know that they need a new blender.

In this case, it would almost be silly to spend more money on a separate gift. You already have what they want; there's no risk of cross-communication - so you could go ahead and do it.

Additionally, don't try to shoehorn a match where it doesn't fit. Don't try and convince yourself someone will love your unwanted gift, because you want to get it off your hands. Only regift if the item is genuinely something that you would have bought for the recipient anyway, not just to make your life easier.

Option 4: Recycle It

This could just be "throw it in the trash," but come on; it's 2016. You know better than that. If the item has parts that can be recycled (and many things do), then spend a while stripping it for parts and doing so. Clothes are perfect for this, and can either be donated directly or recycled for further use.

Option 5: Reuse It

For some items, it may be possible to make something you want out of them - this is upcycling on a grand scale. Jewelry is a prime contender here. A lot of jewelry can be melted down and made into something new, that you like. Gemstones - even cheap costume ones - can be salvaged for a proper use. So don't dismiss it to the back of your jewelry box and forget about it; see if it has something a professional can make use of.

Bad gifts happen, but having to put up with them doesn't. Be creative, be cautious and always try to protect the feelings of the person who gave the gift. Enjoy the holidays guilt-free as a result.

Getting Your Small Business Off The Ground - What Not To Do

If your fancy yourself as an entrepreneur then it's important to realize that businesses don't just start themselves. They need decisive leadership and sound strategies to survive, let alone become successful. Read on for some big mistakes that as a small business owner you should avoid.

Don't be naive

While all the movies may tell you to never give up and follow your dreams, in business it pays to have your head out of the clouds and your feet on the ground. Just because you think you have a good idea for a product or service does not mean that other people will think so too. So, make sure you do your research before you jump headlong into your next project, to save wasting your time and money.

Don't be stubborn

It is important to be flexible when you are in the beginning stages of your business. For example, your original idea may not be received well, but can you tweak it to make it more appealing to a greater market?

Or, if you take your business plan to the bank, but if they won't grant you a loan? Why not see if you can get a merchant cash advance instead to get your project up and running? Approaching your problems with flexibility can mean you don't stop before you've even started.

Don't be disorganized

Clear organization and leadership are essential in any small business. Whether you are working alone or with employees.

Being organized gives others the impression that you are on top of things and that you have an overview of everything that is occurring.

It is essential to have a well laid out plan to work to when beginning a small business venture. You need to know what service or product you will be offering. What the cost of this will be, and how you will fulfill these orders. In addition, you will need to know how many you expect to sell in the first 12 months and what profit you expect from these sales. This can really help you secure your funding and check that you are on target to build a successful and profitable company.

Do not be easily discouraged When starting up your own small business venture, you have to be tenacious. You have to hang in there when things get tough. You need to be able to answer the tough question and demonstrate that you won't throw in the towel when the going gets rough. Starting your own business is never an easy option, make sure you have fortified yourself for the bad days before you even decide to go down this route.

Don't be a Luddite

Of course in today's ecommerce economy, being a small business owner means making the best use of the technology that is available. If you are not tech savvy then your business is going to miss out, as you can market, retail and ship your product from home with the use of the internet.

Happy Birthday October Celebrants!

Grab from Pinterest

All this time I am thinking that month of March is the most celebrated month in the family because of birthdays. I figure that I am wrong after I noticed that some of my nieces, nephews and cousins even my brother are burn in October. With this I come up with an idea of celebrating everybodys birthday with a blast for a day. Imagine my maternal side of the family gathering all together to celebrate and have fun. No doubt its a blast! Hopefully, I can materialize this plan the soonest. If not this year since October is almost half way finish then perhaps next year. :-D keeping my fingers cross.

Talking about birthday. My little big boy is turning 12 in three months. And as early as now he shared one on his request. That is to have a chocolate fountain in his birthday. Honestly, I am surprised when he told me about his wish. In his age I am not expecting it because I dont think he will enjoy it. But then, kids is kids. No matter how big and tall he maybe he is still my baby. And mama will try her best to make his wish come true.

Active Kids Need An Activity Garden - Here's How To Make Your Own

Children thrive when they’re given the space to run around outdoors. Not all of us have much of a garden, but you can turn your backyard into a fun space for the kids to enjoy. The most important part of it is being outdoors in the fresh air. Of course, you want your children to be safe while they’re out there. Try some of these ideas to help you develop your own fun garden for the kids:

Safety First

Make sure the garden is secure and fully enclosed. This will prevent little ones wandering off and stop intruders getting in. Some companies, like Smoothline Fences, offer very private fencing solutions. You should also rail or fence in the pool and the dog’s play area. This will reduce the hazards for your child while they play. Ideally, you want to be able to feel comfortable letting them explore and play without you having to watch them constantly.

Photo provided by Flickr

Remove all plants that may be dangerous or harmful. Thorns and spikes can prove quite painful for a little one. It could be a good idea to control the plants in your garden by using raised bedding. Why not plant a little flower bed together? This teaches valuable skills and your children will love tending to the flowers with water. Older children might relish the opportunity to grow some fruit and vegetables. Don’t worry if you don’t have much space. Many plants and veggies can be grown in containers and raised beds.

Every child loves a little play house. You may not have much space, or even the budget to buy one. But any den will do. Kids have a great imagination and can turn a hanging sheet into the best clubhouse ever. It gives them a chance to practice acting like grownups, as well as a little privacy and independence. If you have space for active toys like swingsets and slides, your kids will love them. Bicycles, skateboards, and scooters can all be ideal for the backyard too. Have a little area of hard standing for wheeled toys.

Photo provided by Flickr

Ball games can be problematic in a backyard. The ball might hit the fence or go over. This can annoy the neighbors. Choose something like a basketball with a hoop attached to the side of the house. There is less chance this will end up somewhere it shouldn’t if the kids are just shooting hoops. Foam balls can be quite handy for keeping the noise down too. Do you have space for a ball pool? This is loads of fun for the children to dive in and wallow.

Some of the best activities for children involve you. Your garden is the ideal space to get involved with your kids’ favorite games and hobbies. Plant some flowers, kick a ball, or even enjoy a water squirter challenge. It will help keep all of you active, and it’s great fun for you all too. Try some of these ideas to make the most of your outdoor space, however big it is.

A Very In-Depth, Sustainable Approach to Pest Control

Pests, rodents, and a multitude of other unwanted creatures are a plague on homeowners everywhere. This can be a more significant problem in southwest Florida, where warm temperatures year-round foster a greater number of these pests. In the north, residents are relieved of much of this problem, particularly with insects, as the colder temperatures eliminate flies, mosquitoes, bees, and other annoying flying and crawling things until the spring. Not so much in Florida, where warm, moist temperatures promote breeding on a year-round basis.

Homeowners and businesses in the Naples area have to concern themselves with pest and rodent problems daily, with ants, spiders, termites, fleas, roaches, silverfish, and rodents, among many others, causing continued problems and aggravation.

For residents in this area that may try resources to deal with these pests on their own, and are losing the battle, it would be in their best interests to call for some help. Professional extermination services will be necessary, and a call to a Naples exterminator is in order.

There are a number of exterminator companies out there, big multi-national firms that make claims they are the "do-all" solution. But really, how much do they know about your specific region in particular if their major focus is in trying to 'corner the market' in every county and state across the country?

Local residents would best be served by a company with longstanding local ties, who takes a very in-depth, sustainable approach to pest control while implementing processes that are environmentally safe, particularly around children and pets. Arrow Environmental Services is one terrific example of the right company that fits all this criteria.

The company the resident should look for will serve over 100 communities in west central and southwest Florida, having done so for several decades, thereby knowing precisely what pest problems are prevalent in the area, and how to best eradicate all pest and rodent problems.

This company will have highly trained and educated personnel, who, through ongoing training, stay on the cutting edge of systems and solutions that work best in any given pest or rodent situation.

Working from outside, where the pests come from, to the home's interior, they will diagnose what concerns the homeowner has in each situation, and get right on to taking care of business, making the residence pest and rodent free once again.

When Boredom Hit!

What do you usually do when you get bored? Of course, there are lots of ways to get rid of boredom. Listening to your favorite music is one of the best way. It is proven and tested by yourams trully. Hehehe..

There are times that I wish I can play a guitar. Does taylor 614ce ring a bell? It's an acoustic guitar that I wish we have. I will definately love hearing the sounds of it.

Of Being Forgetful!

I almost forgot that I still have undone tasks to do. Good thing I remember about it before I lost them in my dashboard. Now that I seldom get blessings online I should grab whatever comes my way, more so that I need to renew two of my domain before the year ends.

Apart from not doing the task I also need to login to my self hosted blogs for updates. I always forget updating my two other blogs. Well, its not that I always forget about my other blogs. It is also because I am slacking and procrastinating.

How I wish I can turn back the time wherein blogging is an easy task to do. Those times when updating was easy as 1,2,3.

Essentials To Making A Website Work For You

If you are in the process of setting up a business, then one of the first things to consider is setting up a website. You will have seen elsewhere on this blog why it is that this is important. There are many distinct advantages to a business having a website, and it is difficult to list them all. If anything, we are now at a point where having a website is not just a good idea, but absolutely essential. No matter what your business operates in, having a website is what sets you apart from those who are just playing around. But how can you make sure that your website is doing everything that it should be doing? In this article, we will take a look at some of the key ways to make sure that your business’ website really does what it is meant to. Read on to find out what those might be.

Design It Yourself

First of all, you need to design your website and design it well. To get this right, you should make sure that you know exactly what you want from your site, as well as how to achieve it. You might decide that you need some help designing your site. That’s fine. However, it is best ultimately if the final design is down to you personally. This will make it a much more simple process and it will means that you can be sure of its quality. If necessary, spend a decent amount of time perfecting the design before going any further. That way, you can be sure that it is exactly what you want.

Outsource The Maintenance

We have seen that the initial design works best if it is completed alone. However, it is very unlikely that you will want to look after the website once it is set up. Doing so will take up a lot of time, so it is probably best to get some help here. This is where outsourcing comes into play. If you outsource your web maintenance, it means that you can free up a lot of time for yourself. That way, you can spend more time focusing on other areas of the business which need your attention. When you outsource, remember to take into consideration the TUPE guidelines. Also be sure to spend some time shopping around before you make a final decision.

Keep It Updated

One of the primary reasons that your business needs a website is to keep the brand going strong. A good website keeps people coming back for more, so this is what you should be aiming for. The best way to ensure that your site does have a good return rate is to keep it updated. Frequent updates are the hallmark of a website which is likely to succeed. Above all, make sure that these updates are interesting and likely to be shareable. That way, it is much more likely that even more people will come to your site. And that ultimately means more custom for your business.

Get Your Business Seen With These Effective Strategies

If you’ve just started out with a new company, you may be wondering how you can get your business’s name and brand out there to a wider audience. Solving this problem is key. It can help you boost your sales and increase your customer base. Don’t do this successfully, and your company could spend its first few years out in the wilderness. To make sure this doesn’t happen to you, here are a few super effective strategies to use.

Online Advertisements

One of the easiest and quickest ways to get your business noticed is to invest in online advertisements. Some websites will place your adverts on their site for a fee. You can also help to drive more traffic to your website with paid per click advertisements. There are many companies who specialize in pay per click management and can make sure that you get even more people to visit your website.

Social Media

Many companies use social media to help them increase their sales. But not many companies are actually doing it right. You shouldn’t spam your followers and fans with constant information about your new products. Also, add some fun and informative posts that will prompt people to engage with you. The more engagements mean word about your company will spread like wildfire!

Make Sure Content Is Shareable

Now that more and more people, it is important that you are getting your content out there to as many as possible. The best way to do this is with a blog. You should regularly post articles that are relevant to your industry or field. If the content is fresh and relevant, it will be very shareable. One of the best ways to create fantastic content is to take your inspiration from the news. This will help you create topical blog posts that are perfect for sharing!

Offer Freebies To Bloggers

Bloggers are some of the leading trendsetters on the Internet right now. So if you get a couple of the top ones to give your business a shout out, loads new people will hear about you! The best thing to do is to offer some bloggers some free products. Once they have used them, they might write a glowing review of your company. Even if they don’t right a whole post dedicated to your company, just a quick mention could do the trick!

Sponsor Social Media Posts

Did you know that you can now pay to sponsor your tweets and Facebook status updates? If you do, they will be seen by loads of people. Not just those who already follow you! But there is another reason why you need to sponsor your posts. The organic reach on social media isn’t too high these days. Sponsoring can improve that and help you to reach people who you may not have done otherwise!

Hopefully, these points will help you to get your business seen far and wide. And with a wider audience comes a whole load more sales! So what are you waiting for?

How to Create a Unique and Interesting Fireplace

Everyone loves the cozy feeling a crackling fire offers when the cold wind and snow is swirling outdoors. While adding a collection of attractive fireplace tools to the hearth will not make the fire burn hotter, but it will add to the ambiance of the room. The original purpose of the fireplace was not only to warm the room, but early pioneer women also cooked their meals over the flames. These early fireplaces were much larger than the ones found in most homes today, and they included a wider selection of tools used for tending the fire and cooking.

Original fireplace tools were made of iron and were crafted in the blacksmith shop to stand up to daily use for many years. Modern fireplace tools typically consist of a fork, tongs and shovel that are used to move burning logs and remove excess ash. Some other fireplace accessories include bellows, screens, andirons and coal or wood scuttles. Most people choose tools that are very durable which will stand up to heat during use. Homeowners who have a fireplace that does not get a lot of use may choose fireplace tools that are intended more as an accessory than for actual use. Some vintage fireplace tools are very beautiful with chrome, silver, copper or brass plating, and a set of these reproductions can be very costly.

Modern fireplace tools also work very well for free-standing wood burning stoves that are quite popular these days. While the large fireplace of the pioneer days could provide heat for a large room, much of the heat escaped up the chimney. Modern homeowners enjoy the look and feel of an authentic fireplace, but their access to fuel is usually quite limited. Because of this problem, many homeowners install an insert into an existing fireplace opening to capture the heat and redirect the warmth into their home. Free-standing wood stoves and pellet stoves are also very popular since they are more efficient at heating and do not require as much fuel. Pellet stoves are the most convenient type of wood heaters since no wood needs to cut or hauled into the home, and the self-feeding system does not need to be tended like a typical wood burner.

Christmas Spirit

I took this picture two weeks ago while roaming around the mall in the city. Aside from decorations Christmas song is also being played in the mall once in a while. No doubt, Christmas spirit is just around the corner. And because holiday season is my favorite time of the year I cant stop the excitement I am feeling. I guess I am not alone.

If money is not a problem I should start shopping for gifts and clothes for my family. I noticed some good deals in branded clothes everytime I am in the mall. In fact, there are times that I am tempted to shop but I always stop myself. It seemed that extra expenses are coming my way non-stop.

Ultimate Gardening Guidelines For Super Busy People

Many of us lead such busy lives these days that we barely have time to keep a clean home, let alone a garden. Whether you are a single young professional or a couple with a young family, it’s often the backyard and garden spaces that get neglected. There’s a good reason why so many seniors have such amazing, beautiful outdoor spaces. It’s purely down to the fact they have a lot of free time on their hands.

However, it is still possible to achieve garden perfection without having to commit every second of your spare time. And in this guide, we’re going to show you how to get your outdoor space in perfect condition - and keep it that way. Read on to find out our ultimate gardening guidelines for super busy people.

The big clearance

If you’re reading, there’s a good chance that two things are true. First of all, you are a busy person or couple that just does not have time available to spend working, looking after your home, and gardening. Something has to give, right? The second thing is that there is a high probability that your garden, right now, is in a state of disrepair. It’s OK - don’t panic. We’re going to talk you through how to clear things up in the quickest possible way.

Choose a day that you have some time free - weekends are perfect. Ring around friends and family and see if anyone is available to help you out for the day. Team efforts are fun, and you will finish in half the time, minimum. Ask any helpers to bring a few garden tools, and get all yours together so you are ready to tackle the mess. Bear in mind that there is going to be a lot of debris involved, especially if you haven’t touched your garden for a year or so. You will need some heavy duty gardening bags as a bare minimum. You might even have to consider skip hire if there is a lot of mess out there.

OK, so once everyone arrives, it’s time to get started. Remove everything from the ground and either bin it or store it somewhere suitable. There’s be plenty of organic matter and kids toys - maybe even some long lost household items. Start filling those bags up with the organic debris and either put it in a pile for composting or put it to one side to take to your local refuse center.

Next, take a long walk around your garden and check the integrity of your borders. Fences and hedgerows can all suffer damage if left alone for a long time, and will need repairing. Fences are a particular problem. They can be susceptible to rotting, and you might want to consider hiring a fencer to replace weak wood with stronger alternatives. Then it’s time to tackle moss and lichen. It can get everywhere when untended, but it’s easy enough - and fun - to get rid of. A high-powered hose is cheap to hire, and highly effective at moss and lichen removal. Invest in an acid wash for any areas that refuse to budge.

The final step is an important one. Weeds will grow like wildfire in an untended garden, and if you don’t take them out, they will cause you more problems. Look at contact killers first. But if your weeds are widespread throughout the garden, you might want to think about something like Weed B Gon or Ground Clear. The former will kill all weeds without harming your grass. The latter will sterilize the ground entirely - use it, and you will only be able to grow transplanted seedlings rather than seeds.

Making additions

OK, so now your garden is clear, what are you going to put in there? Well, the good news is that there are plenty of easy maintenance plants, flowers, and veggies that thrive with little attention. Perennial plants are an obvious choice. They are hardy and will last throughout the year, adapting to the temperature and weather changes. When it comes to flowers, Marigolds are an easy plant to start with. They are excellent border plants that grow well and spread fast. Not only that but if you are planning a low-maintenance veggie garden, they are the perfect plant for fending off bugs.

Petunias are another lovely flower that requires little attention. A simple watering during the summer months is all it takes to keep these cute little flowers blooming. You could try Zinnias, too. They come in a wide range of shapes and colors and make beautiful additions to borders. Plus, they reseed themselves every year, so you don’t have to worry about replacing them.

Let’s move onto vegetables, now. You are probably thinking that if you don’t have much time for cutting the grass, where will you find it for growing veggies? Well, it’s possible to produce them without much effort or time at all. You’ll need to do a little prep work, first, of course. The idea is to build a raised bed close to your back door, but with enough exposure to the sun. Next, investigate the ‘no dig’ technique of growing veggies. It’s a simple case of planting your favorite veggies and covering them with mulch. Maintenance is dead easy. All you need to do is check it over every morning and pull out any new weeds, and you should have a nice little crop within a few months. It takes thirty seconds of your time every day - you can even do it on your way to the car before leaving for work.

General maintenance

lt; So if you have all your perennials and hardy plants in place, there’ one last thing to think about. Of course, the real time killers in your garden are weeds and lawn maintenance. It can take a considerable level of input to keep it in excellent condition. You have a few choices, however. If you want a pristine lawn at all times, it’s worth hiring a professional gardener. According to lawn experts Atkins Inc, there is so much to consider, and it is just too time-consuming if you have a large garden space. You'll need to keep track of the weather, learn about local insects, and understand how fungal diseases work, for example. And then there is putting all that theory into practice to keep your lawn in tip-top condition.

Another option is to go for the more rustic, unkempt look. You will still need to mow your lawn, but once every 3-4 weeks rather than weekly. It can add a lot of character, though, and the longer grass can add impact to your borders. What about reducing the size of your lawn, or removing it altogether? A few years ago, the idea of synthetic grass would make a gardener curse. But these days it is a lot more acceptable. You can get artificial grass that allows rainwater to seep through to the soil underneath. It’s also a lot more eco-friendly than it was just a few years ago. And, of course, it needs zero maintenance other than a few regular checks for integrity.

Finally, you can try hardscaping. A large decking area is more suitable for year round use, and can cut out a lot of your mowing woes. Choose the right materials and design and it can be a stunning addition to your garden that links your home with the outdoor world. Consider creating footpaths through your lawn, too. Paving slabs or loose stones can create unusual patterns that need little maintenance. Again, it's a significant cut back on the time you need to spend mowing.

Investments worth the money

If you want to cut the time you spend tidying up your garden, a shed is an absolute must. Make sure it is big enough to store all your tools and other garden equipment. On the subject of garden tools, always go for as much quality as you can afford. If you need to save time in the backyard, excellent tools will get the job done twice as fast. Keep them in good condition, too, and you won’t have to replace them for many years to come.

If you have children, get them in the habit of putting their garden playthings away once they are finished with them. There are some incredible garden storage ideas out there these days, so take a look around and see what you can find.

OK, so that’s all for now. I hope you get something out of these guidelines and that we have shown you how a stunning garden isn’t just a pipe dream for busy people. Sure, you will have to spend a little time in preparation. But it only takes a weekend or two to set you up for the future in a spectacular, easy maintenance garden space.

Do you have any tips to add? We would love to hear from you if you have any experience tending a garden while living a super busy lifestyle. Why not drop us some advice in the comments section below?

Choosing a Great Gift for a Friend's Wedding

Wedding season is currently upon us, and if you've been invited to a wedding or two, you may be stressing out about buying the right gift. You want to get something that is memorable and meaningful, but probably don't want to break the bank. You also want to get something that the bride and groom actually want, instead of burdening them with something they need to return or live with grudgingly. Before you head to the store to pick up something for the big day, check out these tips for choosing the right gift for your friend's wedding.

First of all, you can save yourself a lot of stress by simply giving a gift of cash or a gift card. Some couples today ask for a donation to nonprofit or to a crowd-sourcing page, using their wedding gifts to pay for their honeymoon or for a down payment on their house. Otherwise, consider getting them a gift certificate to a business or restaurant that you know that they enjoy. This will allow you to feel like you're giving something personal while also ensuring that your gift will be appreciated.

If that is not an option, check to see if the bride and groom are registered for gifts anywhere. Most of the time, couples will register with businesses that have both a local retail location and an online store. This way, you can pick out the perfect gift from a list of items that the couple wants and needs. Try to find something that is meaningful to you and to your friendship with the couple. If you have your gift sent from an online retailer, be sure to also send a card along with it.

Finally, you can go the traditional route and choose a gift that you know they want and need because you actually ask them. For example, you can pick up some beautiful wholesale linens from a store like DownTown Company's Luxury Linens, and provide the newlyweds with linens to start their new home. Or, choose a kitchen gadget that you know they'd use, or tickets to a show that you know they'd like to see.

Picking a great wedding gift is about getting the new couple something that they both want and need. Consider giving a cash gift or check their wedding registries. Then, go and enjoy the wedding!

Educational Tour

Month of September is not only the start of "BER" month. It is also the Math and Science month. It is this month when some of schools are conducting Math-Scie exhibit, educational tours and other activities that concern Math and Science.

For two years the school where my little big tot is enrolled has not been conducting educational tour. Simply because the places that are worth visiting was ruined by the strongest typhoon that made landfall in our province. Since our dear Province is standing up after almost three years of devastation the school decided that is deemed and proper that we visit the places we visited before for us to witness the big change since our last visit.

The educational will be coming Saturday. I am a bit excited because I will get a chance to bond with other parents of Grade Six. Our children will be in Junior High next year and perhaps we will enroll our children in different schools. So this coming Saturday is not only the education tour of our children but also parents bonding.
