Turning Down An Offer

I don’t know if you have tried turning down an offer as a blogger but I do many times.

I have received quite a lot of message about guest posting. I feel giddy as soon as I read the message. Who doesn’t want to earn more anyway? But what will you do if the offer is for free? I somehow know that a blogger is usually paid monetarily or accept any products in exchange of a post with links. So when someone offered me to publish her/his post in my blog for FREE I immediately turn it down. I mean why post an article with links for free when you are actually paid for it? For me, it’s unfair but of course we have different opinions.

Another offer is a blog post in exchange of a product. The offer is tempting as the product is from outside the country (imported) but then I remember a fellow bloggers who had problem getting their stuff from Bureau of Customs. They need to pay a certain amount to get the package although it was a donation for the typhoon victim. But before I turn down the offer I ask fellow blogger is they have previously worked with the company. I also ask if the product is good but to my surprised they also turned down the offer and others just ignored the message. Well, I don’t think the Customs will collect money for the package for I am to choose one item only, if I accepted the offer.

Of course receiving products for free is amazing. It is up to blogger whether to accept the offer or turn it down. How about you, have you tried turning down an offer as a blogger?

I turn down offers now too sis labi na mga free guest posts that are not related to the topic of my blogs. Sometimes though I accept when my mind is blocked, can't write. I accept only when it happened and only those articles that are related to my blog

I do feel bad every time I turned down or decline an online task. It's just most of the time that I decline an offer is due to lack of time and sometimes I can't relate to the topic at all.

i know huh? Nothing is free these days. I get a lot of product samples but those aren't really free because i have to do a review and doing a review is costly too hehehehe. Anyway, i got a mail this morning too asking for a free copy/past. heck ya! i don't bother replying that person lol.

As a blogger we have to be smart in accepting offers, oftentimes freebies are very tempting, however we also have to consider what else will it bring to us. I have turn down some offers too (not that much though).. As long as we do it politely, there shouldn't be a problem :)

I just turned down a DA yesterday offering a 5 usd copy paste on my pr2 blog. I used to work with her, but after giving it careful thought, I told myself to let it down this time because I work so hard to build that site up and i could not possibly accept cheap offers anymore.

Sometimes it is really difficult to determine which offers to accept as a blogger.

It's a matter of prioritizing I guess. Sometimes, a blogger accepts guest post for free because they need a unique content.

I don't get offers like that.

When I started blogging, I accepted guest posts from other bloggers, this is a form of link building, when you allow to post an article on your blog, they also post a link to your blog on their blog, if done correctly, you can increase your blog's PR fast this way. However, if it's a company, then being compensated for a post is logical. :P Nothing is really "free" in this world anymore. :D

I've done reviews for overseas companies before and I make sure to tell them to handle all the tax and shipping costs so that I don't have to pay for anything when it arrives, most of the time companies are willing to do this for you. :)

It is true I received tons of email saying to have the guest post for 1-2 links. I accept it before but now I charge them since its not easy to have your site running.

I did the same thing if the offer were for free, i normally tell the sender that even if it's a guest posts, i do require a payment or an exchange for a product to review. Just to let them know that there's nothing free these days.

Well, you are the blogger and you have the right whether to accept it or not. I have emails as well where I turned it down because I just don't feel like it is soothing for my blog. I do get things for product reviews and have no problems with the shipping because it is from the USA and I live here. If I were to live in the Philippines and have to go through that hassle. The freebie stuff is not worth it. Better not have it. :)

I haven't received any offer like that because I'm a newbie in monetizing my blog.

Well, your decision to accept or to turn down an offer is any point okay. I think you should only accept offers that will be beneficial to both parties.
